Man, this is dark.
I totally dug the older version of Batman from the same vein as Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven. Nice to see the dynamic with both the Joker and Superman to put Batman in perspective.

Heroes, Volume One
Author:Various/Tim Sale Format: Book
Origin: Borrowed From Friend
Adds an extra layer to the Heroes story, without being distracting or contradictory. Big emphasis on the girl that can see online communications (Wireless). The entire saga is rich with interesting characters that spin offs like this are inevitable.

My Losing Season (Alex Awards (Awards))
- PAT CONROY
A disturbing look at how someone can be the target of several destructive male role models (father and coach). The difficult task of being a student, athlete and soldier without getting positive reinforcement from any of the three.
Super 8 - Super 8
Another in a long list of bands that break up shortly after I discover them. Their sound is like what would happen if Lenny Kravitz went grunge.

The Dark Knight
Well paced action packed movie with a dense story and developed characters. Heath Ledger stands out in his performance of The Joker. Would like to have seen a little more of Batman's perspective. The movie studder-steps its way to the ending due to poor editing, but holds up none the less. The Joker/Batman symbiotic dynamic gets played up quite well. A little gruesome in parts, but the violence is not explicit. Can't wait for the next one.

Brick
While I like film noir, the dialog of this film was incredibly distracting from its cleverly layered plot. Junkie high school kids don't talk like this, much less figure out mysteries. The characters were well thought out, although difficult to accept in this context. Probably worth another viewing to sort it all out, but I doubt that will ever happen.
